BYU packet on Cumorah

Because the topic of Book of Mormon geography has been controversial, it is important for students to know what the prophets have taught. Their teachings can be boiled down to two main concepts:

1. The Hill Cumorah of Mormon 6:6 is in New York.
2. We don't know where the rest of the events took place.

Over the years, some people have conflated the two concepts to claim we don't know where any of the events of the Book of Mormon took place.

This packet simply shares the teachings of the prophets. It is not an official document published by BYU. Although it is intended for students at BYU, as well as students throughout CES, it is available for anyone interested in the topic.

The packet should be considered along with the Gospel Topics essay on Book of Mormon Geography.

BYU packet on Evolution

Because evolution is a controversial topic, BYU prepared a packet of information for students. It consists of statements of the First Presidency on the topic. The packet is distributed to students with the understanding that faculty may provide additional materials as they see fit for their course content.

This packet allows students to see what the prophets have taught, to put everything else they learn in context. With this information, students can make informed decisions about what to believe.
